Daylight Savings Light | Centerpiece Focus

The potted pansy centerpiece

Daylight Savings always sets my body for a spin. I'm a create of habit, for sure, and even an hour's change does a number on me. And so, I've been feeling tired all week.

But this morning something magical happened. Today, for the first time since the time change, I saw the sun streaming through my south-facing windows and casting the most warm sun across the living room floor. I pulled a chair right up next to the window and sat here for a long while, enjoying, before deciding to write this.

It's been too long since I've simply sat to enjoy the sun. And the way the shadows fell so beautifully reminded me of the day we opened the front door, walked into this room and sat right on the floor. The day we called this our home. It was early December, 3 years ago, and the shadows that day had the same effect on me. I remember nothing the light and even commenting to my husband, as we toured this home during our buying search, how this room glowed. Maybe that's what convinced me that this was the place. Because this room glows every time the sun peeks out from the clouds all winter long.

I'm not sure why I'm telling you this, except maybe because these thoughts also led to me thinking about when I took the leap to come back to florals full time. It's one of the best decisions I have ever made. It allows me to see this morning light streaming in the south facing windows all winter. It allows me to use my hands to design and create. And it allows me to meet so many of you. For that I am forever grateful.

So I'll go back to basking in the sun this morning and hope you find a little patch of sun today too!
