Copper.

This popped up in my feed today. From a year ago. I remember this shoot so well, remember waiting patiently for the day to finally arrive when Haley Nord and I would work copper. 

I remember when Haley finally found this gown. It was perfect. The copper glow was gorgeous. The details absolutely divine. It wasn't over the top, but it had just enough splash. And the way it glistened! Oh the way it reflected the sun. Words will never be able to describe that!

And then the planning really started. We decided on a desert landscape to accent the copper and really bring in a earthy vibe. Of course, I loved that. But when we arrived at the location, the funniest thing happened. There was a small group of campers set up near where we had planned to shoot. They had a small fire going, a few motorbikes, and seemed to just be enjoying themselves. So, why not continue as planned? And we did. During set up, the campers pulled out their guns and by the time we were doing the shoot, they were shooting as well! Not at us!!! But at targets. Poor Haley! Every time a gunshot would go off, it seemed that she was in her most concentrated place and it startled her so badly! Such is real life! It's not always what we seen in the images!!!

This is one of my favorite bouquets, in one of my favorite locations, with some of my favorite people. And the images take me back to the memories of first time I ordered flowers in from out of state. To one of the first times I really felt that the structure of the bouquet was spot on. The first times that I knew this is how I wanted to design. To my love for saturated, bold, beautiful color. And how that bold color contrasts with the colors of the desert, sometimes washed out and subdued and drab. And it takes me back to the essence of me and the essence of design. And it makes me happy. I hope it does the same for you!
